The Red Cup Cafe. 115 Broadway, Chesterton, IN Three’s Company Three local fine artists have teamed up for an exhibit of their artwork titled Three’s Company, at Red Cup Café, 115 Broadway in Chesterton, from Aug. 30 - Oct. 1, 2010. They are Mary Ann Pals, Gerrie Govert, and Dawn Fetty. She teaches art classes at the Chesterton Art Center where she is also a board member. Gerrie Govert, from Crown Point, (www.gerriegovert.com) works in pastels and oils and is well known in the area for her colorful portraits. Dawn Fetty (http://dawnfetty.com), an acrylic and oil painter from Valparaiso, enjoys creating work with a more edgy, contemporary flair. The artists will be on hand at the closing reception of this exhibit from 10:00-4:00 pm on September 25 during ARTour, an artist/business owner venture in downtown Chesterton sponsored by the Chesterton Art Center. "When Attitude Becomes Form" An 18 Artists Exhibit at the Chesterton Art Center When a gifted artist picks up a paintbrush, a blank canvas suddenly gives birth and comes to life; a young sprout of a boy transcends the obstacles and uncertainties of youth and adolescence and dons the cloak of manhood; a frail flower of a girl unfurls into a woman in full bloom. Time and memories converge. Paint becomes more than pigment, it becomes an exquisite means of expressing life and telling its ever-changing story. "Attitude Becomes Form!" Witness this amazing transformation, when well known, award-winning, area artist, Gerrie Govert, gives a pastel demonstration during the reception for this exhibit. Under the expert hands of a sculptor, an inanimate lump of clay takes shape and becomes a fascinating object, landscape or image of a person; shards of colored glass develop into exquisite stained glass masterpieces. In the skilled hands of a talented artist with the deftness of a magician, a flat piece of paper morphs into an exotic origami animal or a snowflake ornament, a piece of porcelain becomes a beautiful vase or a custom-designed piece of jewelry. It happens! Give an artist any malleable material or workable medium and a metamorphosis of life is bound to take place. That is, "When Attitude Becomes Form!" Share our stories. See the results that develop from creative expression. Check out the intriguing collection of artistic "Attitudes" on display when the Chesterton Art Center, at 115 S. 4th Street, in Chesterton, Indiana, hosts this eclectic exhibit of artwork by the widely respected area arts organization, 18 Artists. Meet and greet the artists, delight in Gerrie Govert’s demonstration, and sample hors d’oeuvres with "Attitude That Takes Form," at the reception on Friday, July 9, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Admission is free and open to the public.
