"Play is a necessary ingredient in art because there is a kind of wonder that goes on when you play. You're directing your activity towards a conclusion that isn't prescribed by a potential method."
- Richard Serra
Artist Statement
I express myself through art by painting the things that are beautiful and precious to me. Mostly flowers and children. I find light and shadow exciting. The artist sees things that go unnoticed by many. When you learn to draw your eye is awakened to the lovely language of forms, and one learns to express themselves in that language.
I believe we have a responsibility to develop the talents we have been given. To continue to grow and develop as we grow older makes life an exciting adventure.

June presently teaches a weekly class in her home. One way to keep up with a hobby is to teach someone else. She also volunteers teaching watercolor classes for seniors in a retirement center. Some are retired professionals, too busy all their lives to follow that inner desire to color and create. It is a joy to see how well they do.
June also occasionally gives demonstrations. Her work is available at Suzie's Restaurant on Highway 30 in Valparaiso, IN.
June has served on art committees for the Chesterton Art Show and Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority for the Northwest Indiana Area and served as a Fine Arts Judge for high school awards
